Fixing Statistics - Update

Hello everyone!

Some folks had asked for an update on my progress on fixing the statistics problems.

I'm delighted to say that I'm about half way done. I've got the new system all designed and about half the code is written.
Progress should proceed at a faster pace now now and I *hope* to be finished around the end of this year.

I'll be ordering two new servers tonight which end up being the future home for World of Solitaire. These machines will be much more powerful than the current ones and combined with the new code and system design there should be no more statistics problems once they finally go live some time early next year.

In the mean time I hope everyone has a kick butt holiday season :)

Thanks for all the work you're doing to resolve the statistics problems, Robert.

Meanwhile, what do regular players think about the "Highest percentage won" category on the leaderboard?

Since you must have a certain minimum number of wins to qualify, this category rewards both successful strategy, and what I'd call "Loyalty to the game"--that is, you stick with the game, and try to win it as often as possible.

I think some of the "minimum numbers" are out of whack. There are games where the entire leaderboard is at 100.00%, and games (like Golf) where the winningest player is only at 12-13%.

What do other players think about this?

Thanks for a good site! I hope your next development will be that the4program tells how many moves is still to be done.

I agree with the last post. It would be nice to know when you have no more moves to make.

DOOOOD! I love this site and I never notice any problems! It's an easy to get to game that doesn't have a bunch of other junk on it. Just Solitaire! Isn't that the way it's supposed to be! How simpler and fantastic could this be!!!

I don't think you should have a "reset stats" button on the personal statistics. I was looking at the most games one on Yukon, and saw that an active player "Dandi" who was 14th on the list had suddenly disappeared. I realized that he must have hit the "Reset" button, out of curiosity, and wiped out all his stats. The button is too accessable and a player can accidentally hit it and wipe out their own stats. Sorry Dandi!

Hello

When you hit the Reset Statistics button, it pops up a confirmation window that warns you about what you are doing and gives you one last chance to back out. So the player you mention probably didn't do it on accident.

A Reset Statistics button is one of the most user requested features over the years :)

I would suggest a facebook log-in for those of us who have trouble remembering passwords! This is the best online solitaire game, in my opinion!
